The year was 1978, when a small concept company was born from paper to reality by Les Porter. Born in a small building resident at 22 Fransen street Chamdor, the company opened its doors for business at the end of a decade that was known for it's stability and good fortune.

D&L engineering supplies grew from strength to strength throughout the very turbulent 80's, and it was in mid 1982 that John Henning bought into D&L engineering supplies as a partner with Les Porter and a Third silent Partner. As is known The 80's were anything but stable and what with sanctions, political unrest and what was properly one of the worst recessions in history, D&L engineering supplies survived this period seeing the buying out of the third silent part in the later part of the 80's.

It was in 1992 that John then bought out Les Porter and D&L changed from a pty ltd to a closed corporation. In 1993 Andre Henning, John's Son came on board as internal sales. In 1994, it was decided that D&L engineering supplies was to branch out and a second office was launched in Robertville, Roodepoort. A decision that has paid unexpected dividends. Together With the branch office D&L engineering supplies has grown exponentially and has year after year proven that it's future is as stable as it's past.

In 2001 after 20 years at the helm of D&L engineering supplies, John decided to retire. The helm of the company was passed on to his son Andre who has been running the company as a full member since august 2001.
